A Solemn Vigil Commemorating the Nakba, Palestine Past and Present

Purpose: DelPHR and other local groups will host a vigil to commemorate the Nakba, share our grief, and demand an end to the genocide in Gaza and occupation of Palestine. The Nakba, which means “catastrophe” in Arabic, refers to the violent expulsion of 750,000 Palestinians from their homes and homeland by Zionist militias and the new Israeli army during the state of Israel’s establishment from 1947-1949. Parking: There are parking garages on Washington St. and 11th & Orange (enter from 11th St.), a parking lot on Washington & 10th, and street parking (free after 6 PM)

  • Suggested Attire: All Black

  • Flags and signs welcome (see suggested signs below)

    • Free Palestine

    • Permanent Ceasefire

    • End Military Aid to Israel

    • Stop Starving Gaza

    • Stop funding Genocide

  • Electric candles will be provided. Please do not bring any candles or matches.

This is a solemn peaceful vigil. We’re coming together to grieve and demand an end to the genocide.
